Is 2020 the year you gain your CPHR Designation? As a Candidate member, the next and final step to become a Chartered Member with CPHR Alberta is submitting your Experience Validation Assessment application.
Because of the language of the profession and the complex nature of the CPHR Canada Competency Framework, completing the EVA application can be somewhat overwhelming. The idea of recording your entire career and justifying your skills and knowledge can be so daunting that people sometimes hold off pursuing their designation as a result.
To help assuage these worries and fears, CPHR Alberta’s Professional Standards team have implemented three initiatives. Our goal in starting these initiatives is to make the Experience Validation Assessment process clearer for applicants and to increase the success rates for our members. We want our members to attain the CPHR designation to help them:
boost their potential earning ability
enhance their career opportunities and
increase their influence in their organization
Three initiatives to help CPHR Candidates with the EVA Application
EVA Guide – This is a comprehensive tool which breaks the application process down into easy to swallow weekly bites. The Guide offers applicants week by week instructions for gathering documents, self-assessing and filling in the separate areas of the application.
Candidate Orientation – in person or via webinar – These sessions lead attendees through a presentation that outlines what it means to be a Candidate member. Then, we break down how to fill out the Experience Validation Assessment application form. CPHR hopefuls can ask very specific questions and get direct feedback on their application.
EVA Coaching Sessions – These are sessions over the phone where Candidates can speak directly to a member of the Professional Standards team about their unique situation to get helpful advice and guidance specific to their needs. Our Lead counsels and offers feedback to Candidates on their application to help ensure they have the best chance of success. These coaching spots are limited and fill very quickly.
