An Update from your Board of Directors – October 2024

As the governing voice of CPHR Alberta, the Board of Directors meet quarterly to provide oversight and guidance in several key areas. The Board, alongside CPHR Alberta operations, continues to deliver on the association's strategic priorities developed in the 2020 strategic plan.

To ensure transparency between our Board of Directors, members and key stakeholders, we are sharing post-meeting messages to inform stakeholders of the steps taken towards advancing our profession and ensuring a financially stable association.

The Board of Directors met on September 30, 2024, and the Board’s key messages for our members and key stakeholders are as follows:

Excellence Through Sound Governance

  • The Board has approved the increase of dues by 3% starting January 1, 2025. This adjustment will help us continue growing the HR profession and support our key goals, such as self-regulation, certification consistency, and enhanced professional development opportunities for all members. Members would have received notice of the increase by email on October 17, 2024.
  • The Board will begin board recruitment later this fall. Keep your eye out for communications on our updated Board Position Profile and how to apply.

Board Engagement

  • The Board invites all members to attend and connect with them at our fall events. Your feedback, questions, or even a simple hello are greatly appreciated and will help us continue to bring value to our members!
  • The Board is proactively championing the value of HR within the business community, recruiting other HR professionals to raise the association’s visibility, and engaging in community outreach to identify HR trends that will guide future planning for the benefit of members and stakeholders.”

CPHR Canada

The Board is thrilled to announce that CPHR Canada is launching a national marketing campaign this November, running through the end of the year! Our commercials will showcase the incredible value of the CPHR designation. Stay tuned to our social media for updates on where you can catch the ads and get ready to share your pride for the profession!

The next Board meeting takes place in November 2024, after which we will again share our key messages. If you have any questions regarding these key messages or the Board of Directors, please contact chair@cphrab.ca. We welcome your feedback!

I became a member of CPHR even before moving to Canada in July 2023. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I made!
