CPHR ALBERTA MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
Discover the CPHR Alberta Mentorship Program
The Mentorship Program is one of our most valuable member benefits, helping hundreds of members grow professionally and personally. By joining, you’ll connect with HR professionals, learn about industry challenges, and find unique solutions. These relationships support your career growth and raise the standard for human resources.
Program Overview
· Open to all CPHR Alberta members.
· Meetings can be virtual or in-person.
· Mentoring relationships last 6 months, with an option to extend to 12 months.
· Formalize existing mentoring relationships with a Mentoring Agreement to qualify for CPD hours.
Mentorship Streams
- Leadership Mentorship Stream: Experienced CPHR members mentor up-and-coming HR leaders.
- Career Development Stream: HR professionals guide rising stars in HR.
- Peer to Peer Stream: Two HR professionals of equal experience mentor each other.
- Student Mentoring: Those who have successfully participated in the Walk and Talk program are eligible to join the student 1:1 mentoring stream. Those who have not will be assigned to a student cohort.

- Review the Mentorship Handbook.
- Log into your CPHR Alberta portal.
- In the MENU, click on Mentor or Protégé Application.
- Choose to apply for Mentor or Protégé, click Create New Application.
- Read the instructions for Mentor or Protégé, click Next
- Complete the online Information Form for Mentor or Protégé, click Next
- Click Submit Application

CPHR ALBERTA MENTORSHIP 2.0 PROGRAM
Discover the CPHR Alberta Mentorship Program
We’re thrilled to unveil an exciting new opportunity designed to take mentorship to the next level! Mentorship 2.0 pairs student members (protégés) with seasoned HR professionals (mentors) in a hands-on, immersive experience using Interpretive Simulations HR Management software.
Together, you will step into the role of HR Director at a mid-sized company and navigate two full fiscal years of real-world challenges and strategic decision-making. It is not just mentorship-it is a chance to apply your knowledge, sharpen your skills, and build lasting professional connections.
Program Overview
- Protégés will lead and make key decisions over eight fiscal quarters with the support of an experienced mentor.
- Each week, protégés are challenged with scenarios that are based on real-life human resource management situations.
- Protégés meet once per week either in person or virtually, with their mentor at a mutually agreed upon time, to assess the impact of their decisions according to key performance indicators and areas they have identified as key for the operations of the organization (i.e., staffing, benefits, compensation).
Mentorship Streams
Student Eligibility
- Must be a student member of CPHR Alberta
- Preference to previous participation in either CPHR Alberta’s Walk & Talk Program or Mentorship Program
- Must be in at least the second year of their studies and majoring in Human Resources
Mentor Eligibility
- Must be a CPHR Alberta member
- Preference to previous participation in the Walk & Talk Program or the Mentorship Program
Program Intakes
- Limited to 10 students and 10 mentors
- Applications are currently open
- Applications Close – September 26, 2025
- Notifications will be sent to participants no later than October 3rd
Time Commitment
- Program runs over nine weeks from October 3rd to December 12th with the first week providing an orientation and opportunity to experience the software
- From October 20-December 12th the simulation program begins with protégés completing one fiscal quarter per week
- Protégés commitment – two hours per week; one hour reviewing the scenario and making decisions and one hour meeting with their mentor
- Mentor commitment – one hour per week meeting with their protégé

WALK AND TALK PROGRAM
Walk and Talk Program
The Walk & Talk program is a one-time, two-hour meeting between senior HR leaders and HR students who are members of CPHR Alberta. It’s a valuable opportunity for students to gain career insights and ask questions about starting their HR careers. This program is hybrid, offering both in-person and virtual meetings.
Program Details:
· 20 spots available for student members.
· One-on-one meetings with an HR executive.
· Meetings can be virtual or at a mutually agreed public location like a café.
