An update from your Board of Directors – March 2024

As the governing voice of CPHR Alberta, the Board of Directors meets quarterly to provide oversight and guidance in several key areas. The Board, alongside CPHR Alberta operations, continues to deliver on the association's strategic priorities developed in the 2020 strategic plan.

To ensure transparency between our Board of Directors, members and key stakeholders, we will be sharing a post-meeting message to inform stakeholders on the steps taken towards advancing our profession and ensuring a financially stable association.

The Board of Directors met on March 16, 2024, and the Board’s key messages for our members and key stakeholders are as follows:

Excellence Through Sound Governance

The Board of Directors is happy to share that CPHR Alberta ended 2023 in a strong financial position. The association is taking opportunities to increase value for members by promoting the profession within the business community and post-secondary institutions and enhancing professional development for members.

The Board of Directors has approved a change to the experience requirement for 2-year diploma holders pursuing the CPHR designation. The requirement has been reduced from eight years of experience to four years. You can view the new pathway requirements here.

The Board of Directors would like to encourage all members to attend the upcoming Annual General Meeting on May 10, 2024, to learn more about the association's 2023 strategic priorities and achievements. Registration will be available on April 19, watch your emails for more information.

Self-Regulation

In support of our continued pursuit of Self-Regulation, the Board of Directors continues to raise awareness with government officials/bureaucrats and business leaders on the value of the CPHR designation and the importance of our profession. Please note, the CPHR Alberta Board of Diretcors will be doing a Self-Regulation session at the CPHR Alberta Annual General Meeting on May 10 for members to learn how they can support our application.

The next Board meeting takes place in June 2024, after which we will again share our key messages. If you have any questions regarding these key messages or the Board of Directors, please contact chair@cphrab.ca. We welcome your feedback!
