Rising Star Award

This award is granted to a CPHR Alberta member in the first five years of his/her career who demonstrates great promise as a future leader in the Alberta HR community. Do you know someone who fits the following criteria?

  • Measurable contribution in the workplace
  • Dedication to continuing education
  • Current volunteerism/community involvement (unpaid)
  • Initiative in the workplace; going beyond expectations
  • Persistence and determination, especially in the face of challenges
  • Passion and enthusiasm for the profession of human resources
  • Holds the CPHR designation and is an active member of CPHR Alberta

Community Champion Award

Award is granted to an individual CPHR Alberta member in recognition of their outstanding volunteer contributions to a non-profit or charitable organization within their community. Their volunteer work does not have to be related to HR. Do you know someone who fits the following criteria?

  • Volunteer involvement/community service
  • Makes a measurable and/or significant impact on the organization for which they volunteer
  • Has a reputation of someone who gets things done
  • Acts as a change agent
  • Holds the CPHR designation and is an active member of CPHR Alberta

Award of Excellence - Team

Award is granted to an HR Team that plays a key role in driving the performance and reputation of an organization, are catalysts for organization-wide change, and serve as trusted advisors on organizational strategy. The team must include at least one CPHR Alberta member with the CPHR designation. Do you know someone who fits the following criteria?

  • Provides strategic alignment of HR functions with corporate strategy, and can envision the big picture
  • Creates and implements innovative solutions
  • Has the ability to execute
  • Results oriented - someone who gets things done
  • Ability to influence change
  • Plays a key role in driving the performance and reputation of an organization

Strategic Innovator Award

Award is granted to a CPHR Alberta member (individual or team) in recognition of their commitment to finding new, innovative approaches to demonstrate the value of HR as a strategic business partner in their organization. They should be able to clearly articulate how their innovative idea/process has made a positive and significant contribution to their organization and their profession; has demonstrated that they can "think outside of the box" and that their innovative idea or approach creates the WOW factor. Do you know someone who fits the following criteria?

  • Displays innovation and creative "outside the box" thinking
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking and a high-level, big picture view of the organization
  • Results-oriented
  • Actions have a significant impact on the organization and possibly on the HR profession
  • Holds the CPHR designation and is an active member of CPHR Alberta

Distinguished Career Award

Award is granted to a CPHR Alberta member with at least 15 years of experience in Human Resources who has made significant contributions to the advancement of the Human Resources profession in Alberta. Do you know someone who fits the following criteria?

  • Significant contribution to the HR Profession
  • Knowledge sharing
  • Influences other with respect to the value of HR
  • Ongoing and current volunteerism/community involvement (unpaid)
  • Personal attributes that demonstrate inherent understanding of HR, and ability to have impact beyond their own role
  • Displays solid work ethic, dedication and innovation
  • Holds the CPHR designation and is an active member of CPHR Alberta

Leader of the Year

Awarded to an individual who demonstrates exemplary leadership skills. The recipient may or may not be an HR practitioner, but is an individual who displays qualities that the HR profession recognizes as traits of an excellent leader. This person may display leadership as a formal or informal leader, as a mentor, or as a team builder. The recipient of this award does not need to be a member of CPHR Alberta. Do you know someone who fits the following criteria?

  • Provides vision, inspiration and motivation to their staff
  • Acts as a mentor and role model to others
  • Focuses on helping others succeed
  • Acts with integrity, care and humility
  • Engages others to work towards organizational and personal goals

Fellowship Award (FCPHR)

The Fellowship Award is a prestigious honourary award that recognizes Chartered Professionals in Human Resources who have made truly exemplary contributions to the profession. Recipients of the award are granted recognition as a Fellow Chartered Professional in Human Resources (FCPHR).

  • Strategic positioning of the HR profession
  • Advocacy on behalf of the HR profession to Government Policy Makers
  • Development, sharing and promotion of innovative HR ideas, policies and practices
  • Service to local, provincial and/or national HR Associations
  • Service to the broader community/social responsibility

Legacy HR Educator Award

The difference a superior instructor can make on a student is profound and lasting. This award recognizes the excellence that Alberta’s HR faculty display both inside and outside of the classroom. The recipient must be a CPHR Alberta Member, as well as a faculty member (part time or full time) of an Alberta post-secondary institution (college and/or university).

  • Impact on students, both inside and outside the classroom
  • Relevant research in Human Resources, as well as contributions to academic, industry or popular media
  • Scholarly approach to teaching and learning, including innovation of course design and curriculum
  • Demonstrated innovative delivery of course content
  • Collaboration between students and other groups to enhance learning outcomes and application
  • Contribution to the profession through efforts outside of teaching, both as an advocate for the profession to industry and as a bridge between students and the HR field
