The Fair and Family-friendly Workplaces Act changes much of the Employment Standards Code. It was the most thorough revision of the Code in over three decades and resulted in significant additions to job-protected leaves, new calculations for banked overtime, and modification to a host of other standards.
Given the far-reaching impact of the legislation, it was no surprise that almost a thousand CPHR Alberta members attended our July 26 webinar. Laura Mensch, Partner at Gowling WLG, provided a thorough analysis of the changes to both the Employment Standards Code and the Labour Code. The Q&A session following her presentation offered a chance to drill down into some specific areas of the legislation.
