About the Event

This session provides insight into the assumptions that are often made regarding mental health in the workforce. It provides an understanding of the prevalence of mental health challenges and conditions in Canada and considerations on how to effectively support them in the workplace.

Participants will receive information regarding mental health conditions and how they differ from mental health challenges in the workplace. The session also explores some of the stigmas surrounding mental health and the consequences of this in the workforce. Attendees will also receive tactical suggestions on changes that they can make in their workplaces in order to create a more mentally healthy work environment.

About the Speaker

Speaker Name

Dr. Cathy Underhill, M.Ed, Ph.D, CCC is the Executive Director and counsellor at Borealis Counselling Services (formerly Personal Support Network). She has a Master's degree in Counselling from the University of Ottawa. She is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and a member in good standing with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Dr. Cathy Underhill is trained in Mindfulness and have experience in facilitating groups and delivering presentations and workshops on a variety of topics.  

Her primary focus is to ensure that her clients feel accepted and respected within a caring, supportive environment. Each person’s situation is unique and there is no “one size fits all”; therefore her focus is on ensuring that her clients feel “heard” and understood.
