About the Webinar

How do you identify a disabled employee? Is there an obligation on the employer to do so? What is accommodation and how far does it extend? How do you return an employee back to work? Is there any way to terminate the employment of a disabled employee? These are some of the topics that will be covered in this webinar about managing employee disabilities. The participant will also learn some practical tips on how to successfully navigate these complex issues.

About the Presenter

Melissa Rico

Melissa Rico became a member of the Law Society of Alberta in 2004. After her articles, Melissa participated in a Canadian Bar Association internship in Tanzania, focusing on human rights issues. She joined Carbert Waite LLP in 2006 and became a partner in 2017. One of Melissa’s primary practice areas is employment law. She has extensive experience representing both employers and employees on a wide variety of matters, including termination of employment, employment contracts, human rights, privacy matters, policy drafting and disability issues. She presents regularly at conferences on various employment issues.
