Karen Marner is a Senior Human Resources Executive with over two decades of extensive experience in national and international roles. She has held senior HR executive and management roles and led and managed teams in various industries and cultures including Utilities, Oil & Gas, Public Service, Consulting, and Healthcare. As a true generalist, Karen is well versed in all aspects of HR Management, including union and non-union environments.
Janet is a CPHR with 20 plus years of experience. She is a senior business leader with a strong background in strategic planning, human resources and board governance. She also brings to the client advanced certification in Board Governance with an Institute of Corporate Directors designation (ICD.D). In June of 2005, she left her position as VP of Human Resources for United Farmers of Alberta and in 2006, incorporated Salopek & Associates Ltd.
I am a practical, results oriented HR practitioner. As a Gemini there are two of me present at any one time - analytical & intuitive, able to deliver operationally and strategically, having an orientation for numbers and people. Others would describe me as clear communicator and able to explain HR in an easy to understand manner. I love working with engineers - they are problem solvers and I can get to help them work through people stuff. I bring a marketing focus to my work - if it doesn't fit the client then it doesn't make sense to go forward.
